Every course earns a certificate of completion for its stated contact hours. A course is approved by a licensing board or accreditor only when the approval and its number are shown on the course page. Check with your board, employer or state agency whether a course meets your requirement. See our approvals list.
Choose your state in the filters to see courses that include rules for it, or switch on “Includes state-specific rules”. Course pages also carry state notes where rules differ, and our state requirement guides explain individual state mandates with their sources.
It shows which credentials a course topic is relevant to, such as nursing, social work, HR or educator professional development. It is not an approval. The credit status on each course card tells you whether a board or accreditor has approved the course; today every course is a certificate of completion.
Most courses are 2 contact hours, split into short modules with practice activities. A few run 1.5, 3, 6, 8 or 12 hours. The contact hours on each card include the lessons, activities, knowledge checks and the final assessment.
