Workplace Mental Health for Managers and Employers
For: HR & recruiters, Managers & supervisors
By profession
For nurses, aides, social workers, teachers and front-line staff who want to recognize burnout early, understand its real causes and use practical, evidence-informed steps at work and at home.
For: Nurses, nursing assistants and aides, social workers and caseworkers, teachers and school staff, 911 telecommunicators and other front-line helping professionals, plus the supervisors who lead them.
Learn what burnout is, and is not, using the World Health Organization's ICD-11 description and the three dimensions researchers use to measure it. Separate burnout from secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue and moral distress, so you can find the right kind of help. Then look at the causes the U.S. Surgeon General's 2022 advisory and NIOSH's Total Worker Health and Impact Wellbeing work point to: workload, administrative burden, lack of control, harassment and too little support.
Built for helpers in many settings: an ICU in North Carolina, a child welfare office in Mississippi, a third-grade classroom in Rhode Island, a 911 center in North Dakota and home health visits in Texas. You will practice spotting warning signs in yourself and coworkers, setting boundaries without guilt, asking a manager for a specific change and knowing when to call your Employee Assistance Program.
This is a knowledge course, not therapy. It shows you what actually helps, from small recovery habits to organization-level fixes, and explains workplace protections such as FMLA leave and ADA accommodations. Leaders get a team checklist; everyone gets a personal prevention plan and a pocket script for talking to a manager.
