Sexual harassment training requirements by state

Choose a state to see whether employers must provide harassment prevention training, for whom, how long, how often and what records to keep.

Information, not legal advice. Rules last verified October 7, 2026. Laws change; confirm with the agency or a qualified professional before you rely on it.

What the checker shows

For each checked state: which employers are covered, training length for staff and supervisors, deadlines for new hires, how often to retrain, required content, record keeping and any city or county rules, with the statute or agency source and the date we checked it.

Until then, the Employer Training Planner covers California, New York, Illinois, Connecticut, Delaware and Maine, plus New York City and Chicago.

Which states are covered?

Every state in the list has been checked against an official source, which is linked with each answer, together with the date of the dataset. States marked “not checked yet” are still being researched; until they are, use the state agency’s own website. Fields we could not confirm are left out rather than guessed.
