What you will be able to do

  • Identify tasks where generative AI is likely to add value, and tasks where checking costs outweigh the benefit, using evidence from workplace studies.
  • Use AI to draft emails and documents, summarize meetings and synthesize research, with a review step matched to the task.
  • Apply AI to spreadsheets and data, presentations, customer responses and brainstorming while checking accuracy and promises.
  • Build a repeatable workflow or template for a recurring task, including sensible use of copilots built into office software.
  • Edit and quality-check AI output to a professional standard and run a confidentiality check before entering any information.
  • Measure time saved honestly, including checking and rework, and support a team's adoption of approved AI tools.

This hands-on course shows how to use generative AI on the work that fills your week: emails and documents, meeting notes, research summaries, spreadsheets, presentations, customer replies and brainstorming. You will learn to turn one-off tries into repeatable workflows, use the AI built into office software sensibly, edit AI drafts to a professional standard, keep confidential information out of the wrong tools, and measure honestly how much time AI saves once checking is counted.

It is designed for office, admin, marketing, sales and operations staff, and for team leads who want their teams to get real value from approved tools. No technical background is needed.

Many productivity courses promise dramatic time savings. This one shows you what the research actually found, including where AI made work slower or worse, and teaches you to measure your own results. Every use case comes with a realistic US workplace example, a quality check and a confidentiality check. You leave with a use-case prompt sheet, a quality-control checklist, a confidentiality checklist, a workflow template and a time-saved log. Prompt-writing technique is covered in depth in our separate AI Prompting course.

What you’ll be able to do Monday morning

  1. Pick one recurring task, run it with your approved AI tool, and log the total time including checking.
  2. Use the confidentiality check before pasting anything into an AI tool.
  3. Run the four-layer quality pass on every AI draft before it leaves your hands.
  4. Turn your best one-off prompt into a saved workflow template with a named check step.
  5. Ask your meeting's attendees before recording or transcribing, and correct the AI notes before sharing.
  6. Share one AI win and one AI failure with your team so everyone learns faster.

Questions about this course

Does this course count for PMI or other continuing education?

It earns a certificate of completion for 2 contact hours of instruction. It is not approved by IACET, PMI or any licensing board. Some professional bodies let members self-report learning under their own rules, and many employers accept general training like this, so check their current requirements. We will show any approval on this page only after it is granted.

Which AI tools does the course use?

None in particular. It teaches methods that work with the chat assistants and office-suite copilots most employers approve. Tool examples are date-stamped (October 2026) because features change often. Always use the tools your employer has approved for your data and follow their current documentation.

Will this course tell me how much time AI will save me?

No honest course can promise a number. Studies have found large gains on some tasks, little effect on others, and slower work in some settings. You will learn how to measure your own results, counting checking and rework, so you know which uses are worth keeping.

How is this different from your AI Prompting course?

This course is organized around everyday tasks and workflows: what to use AI for, how to check it and how to measure the gain. The AI Prompting for Non-Technical Staff course goes deep on writing instructions. The two work well together, in either order.

How long does it take, and how is it assessed?

About two hours, including exercises, a branching scenario and a 23-question final assessment. You need 70% to pass and can retake it. Passing unlocks a certificate of completion showing the course title, date and 2 contact hours. An optional practical task lets you measure one workflow at work.

Is it safe to use AI with customer information?

Only in tools your employer has approved for that kind of data, and only as your policy allows. The course gives you a confidentiality checklist to use before pasting anything. When in doubt, remove names and details or ask your manager or IT first.

This course is general education and training awareness on generative AI for workplace productivity from CE Courses Hub.
